FEMALE GRADUATES IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING: AN EXPLORATORY APPROACH

Abstract Based on quantitative data, interviews and literature gender, science & technology, the sociology of education work, text addresses shortage women as students professors in Mechanical Engineering program at a higher institution Northeastern Brazil. Six female who entered 2012 are monitored, up to present. The analysis their trajectories, obstacles, personal professional perspectives illustrates how gender filter operates area Science, Technology, Mathematics. It indicates challenges including perspective achieve parity labor market.
